2012 is now upon us. Not only, as Ned correctly points out, is it an anagram of 'awesome', it is also a year so far into the history of mankind that the Mayans couldn't bother counting beyond it...

We hope it's going to be an exciting year for the band. One year ago, on this day, we were preparing to go to Paris to play some music. Although bursting with enthusiasm, we only had about 3 originals written that we were happy with! Today we have enough material for a full-length album, and our first EP will be completed within a week. During the year we have had some amazing experiences: starting with the trip to Paris, middling with some of our favourite gigs so far (playing-wise at the Cambridge Union* and Pembroke May Ball; viewing-wise seeing Beirut at the O2 Academy...) and ending with a 'Pesto e Verdure' pizza at Bella Italia...

It is all very exciting, especially the EP release, and who knows - if Beirut release another album, if Justin Bieber doesn't release another album; if Newcastle does really well, if Clare College Football Club does even better (and Esperada, EVEN better!); if lady love treats us kindly...if the world sprints towards peace, if tyrannous leaderships break into pieces; if education spreads its reach, if global warming retreats; if a 'childish', unrestrained excitement for life becomes the norm, if the Westboro Baptist Church really doesn't...who knows? Maybe this year will be the best year so far. The latest iphone is the best of all iphones, surely the same is true of a year...
